Laura creates unique, bespoke, hand-painted and drawn illustrations and graphic work. She has been commissioned by a range of organisations such as; Every Doctor, The Association of Radical Midwives, Shifrah UK & NHS England.
She also collaborates with individuals, and has created illustrated books and graphic guides in the role of illustrator and writer. Her work sits within Graphic Medicine - 'the intersection between comics and the discourse of healthcare'.
Her design skills include using InDesign, Photoshop & Canva.

GRAPHIC NARRATIVE
Laura creates narrative storytelling with images and text. For example, Cosmic Placentas, below, charts the physiological, spiritual and cultural significance of the placenta. Images were exhibited in the Discerning Eye Exhibition in London and illustrate a chapter written by Laura in the forthcoming title Mothers, Myth and Mythos: maternal narrative knowing, edited by Alys Einion and Rachael Williams, published by Demeter Press.
Graphic Collaboration
Laura collaborated, as writer, with cartoonist Lilly Williams to create the book Pregnancy and Birth: A Graphic Guide, published by Icon Books. In a review on Graphic Medicine's website the book was described as 'one of the most comprehensive, inclusive, and visually engaging guides to pregnancy and childbirth published in recent years' by Dr Laboni Das.
Laura can collaborate with other artists and writers on graphic novel projects, either as illustrator, writer or designer.

GRAPHIC MEMOIR
Below are some sample pages from Laura's forthcoming graphic memoir Scar Tissue., where she has created all elements. The book explores the story of her life through twelve scars or scarrings on her body.
This project is supported by an Arts Council 'Develop Your Creative Practice' award and a JLF 'Genesis' Emerging Writers Fellowship.
ILLUSTRATED BOOKS
Laura can provide illustrations and visual motifs for a range of publications.
She created the Maternal Journal Book - a highly illustrated book - a creative guide to journaling through pregnancy, birth and beyond. It was co-written by Laura with Samantha McGowan and features many original illustrations by Laura.
